Compare

ZonOne and Scale Insights.

Both automate an Amazon Ads account by rule. The difference is one layer up: whether the arithmetic is something you assemble out of parameters and then own, or something the tool already carries and publishes.

What ZonOne carries

  • 4Trigger modesEach carries its own published arithmetic, rather than a threshold you assemble yourself.
  • 8Rule familiesBidding, status, dayparting, placement and budget, negation and unnegate, negative word, blacklist and whitelist, and keyword import.
  • 14Campaign typesSix Sponsored Products, five Sponsored Brands, three Sponsored Display — one campaign per type per selected ASIN.
  • 180Days a rule can readThe ceiling, carried by Growth 100. Plans start at 90 days and Analysis History buys the difference; no plan and no add-on goes past 180.

The difference

Who writes the arithmetic.

Their page advertises 200+ parameters and unlimited rule-stacking. That is an accurate description of a powerful tool, and also of who is responsible when the calculation is subtly wrong. ZonOne puts the calculation inside a named mode and publishes what it does.

How far back a rule may look

ZonOne

Up to 180 days. Growth 100 carries it outright, and Analysis History raises a lower plan to 120 or 180 — a rule reads the window as one block.

Scale Insightsfrom use, not their page

Ninety days, from running the product. Their Features page does not discuss data windows in either direction.

Where the arithmetic lives

ZonOne

Four trigger modes, each carrying its own arithmetic: Standard Criteria, Loss Budget Guard, Momentum Guard and Performance Deterioration. You choose the mode; the calculation inside it is specified and published.

Scale Insights

Their page describes 11 algorithms, 200+ parameters and unlimited rule-stacking. The arithmetic is assembled from parameters, which means you are its author.

What a threshold measures

ZonOne

Loss Budget Guard measures money above an economic threshold rather than a ratio, so a target losing $8 and a target losing $800 are not the same event at the same ACOS.

Scale Insights

Their published rule list is stated in terms of target ACOS and performance thresholds.

How a decline is confirmed

ZonOne

Performance Deterioration confirms failure at both a 60-day and a 30-day checkpoint against a longer Historical Window. Momentum Guard reads a 90–180 day baseline against 60, 30 and 14 day order-pace checkpoints.

Scale Insights

Their page does not describe a multi-checkpoint confirmation step. Expressing one would mean stacking rules.

Undoing a negative

ZonOne

Remove Negative Exact and Remove Negative Phrase are first-class actions. Negation rules are configured two-way, because the reverse is what makes the forward direction safe to run.

Scale Insights

Whitelist prevents a keyword being negated. Revive raises bids on keywords that went quiet. Their page states no way to remove a negative that has already been created.

Building campaign structure

ZonOne

Campaign Sets expand into 14 campaign types — six Sponsored Products, five Sponsored Brands, three Sponsored Display — one campaign per type per selected ASIN, previewed as a list before anything exists, and created paused.

Scale Insights

Their Mass campaigns section offers five builders — Bulk Auto, Fully Managed, Split Keywords to Campaigns, Split Products to Campaigns and Dayparting. All five are Sponsored Products structures.

Rows in the Scale Insights column are drawn from their Features page, read on 28 August 2026 — except the rows marked from use, which come from running the product because their page does not discuss the subject at all. Where that page is silent, this one says so rather than reading a silence as a no. Tools change; if you find a row out of date, tell us and it gets corrected.

Worked example

One requirement, and what it costs to express.

The requirement: a keyword that used to convert has stopped. Do not act on one bad fortnight — act when the decline is confirmed.

Composed from parameters

  1. A rule establishing the long baseline the keyword is measured against.
  2. A rule checking the first, longer window for the shortfall.
  3. A rule checking the second, shorter window, so one bad window cannot fire it.
  4. Something to keep the three in agreement as you tune any one of them.

Four things to maintain, and the arithmetic is yours. When it fires on the wrong keyword, the rule was doing exactly what you configured.

One rule, one mode

Trigger mode: Performance Deterioration

The mode already defines what confirmation means: failure at both a 60-day and a 30-day checkpoint, against a longer Historical Window. You choose the mode and the window. You do not author the confirmation logic, and you cannot get it subtly wrong.

One rule to maintain, and the calculation ispublished, so you can disagree with it on the specifics rather than on the outcome.

And a mode you are not allowed to pick

Set a rule to remove a negative and ZonOne forces it back to Standard Criteria. Performance Deterioration is the shape was good, now bad — the right direction for creating a negative and exactly the wrong one for undoing it. A tool that hands you parameters will let you build that rule, run it on schedule, and return results that mean nothing. Fewer options, in the one place where the extra option is a trap.

Settle it yourself

Ask the tool you are using now.

Three things we believe from running both products that no public page states in either direction. Rather than assert them about a named company, here they are as questions you can answer inside your own account in ten minutes.

  1. Can it show you Sponsored Brands Image search terms?

Search term coverage is not uniform across ad products, and a tool that silently drops one is making its negation and harvesting decisions on a partial account. ZonOne reads them: Search terms carries a Headline search ads view alongside Products. Open your own search term view, filter to a Sponsored Brands Image campaign, and see what comes back.

  2. How many rules does one requirement cost you?

Take a requirement you actually have — the worked example above is a real one — and build it in the tool you are using now. The number of rules it takes is the number you maintain, and the number that can drift out of agreement with each other.

The overlap

And what is genuinely the same.

Stated plainly, including two capabilities it would have been easy to claim as ours alone. A narrow difference is worth more against an honest background than a flattering one.

Rule families
Bidding, status, dayparting, placement, budget, negation, negative word, blacklist, whitelist and keyword harvesting. The lists are close to the same list.
Seeing a change before it happens
Both show what a run would change before it is applied. This is not a ZonOne-only property and this page will not pretend it is.
A record afterwards
Both keep a log of what was changed.
Search term aggregation
Both aggregate search terms across an account.

Buy theirs, not ours

Two cases where Scale Insights is the better buy.

If one of these describes you, nothing above should have changed your mind.

Read a judgement before you make it a rule.

Connect the account you already run, open a Decision Brief, and see the action with the evidence rows, the period and the scope it applies to. The rule is the last step, not the first.
